Forget Whether God Exists, Investigate Survival of Consciousness First

Forget God (for awhile), survival of Consciousness after death and outside the brain is the thing to investigate first, says this blogger below. If you prove consciousness has a mind of its own, a life of its own, then the other question of whether God/Goddess exists or not will simply answer itself. The atheists-and-scientists vs. mystics-and-believers method is not getting us the answers we need, we crave. We must look at whether consciousness survives after we die, examine the evidence that our brains do not create consciousness, they merely tap into it, like your car radio picks up on a broadcast of huge FM radio waves.

Very thought-provoking cogent ponderings… I also saw the PBS show portraying Freud debating CS Lewis, the blogger mentions. The program was also thought provoking and deep, yet fell short of answering the ultimate questions… This article/blog below and the comment that follows seem to point right at such ultimate answers. — +Katia

Many times butterfly population declines are accredited to human causes, which in many cases is true. However, with butterflies, most are simply cases of the eco-system balancing itself due to a natural disturbance. The species in question will migrate to a different area that has a sustainable amount of their host plant or the survival rate of larvae will drop for a period. This is temporary, only until the law of supply and demand is balanced out once again among the larvae/hostplant ratio.

It is not an unknown fact that in India, the skilled and talent is in abundance and there are ample placement opportunities that are available in the market. MTC Group realizes that the demand for skilled and talented professionals is very high. Over the years we have formed a bridge that fills the gap that exists between professionals who are looking for opportunities and companies that have requirements and are looking for skilled professionals.

Democrats need to investigate why Charlie Rangel and Tim Gietner didn't pay their taxes and haven't gone to jail. They need to investigate why Rod Blagovich isn't in jail for trying to sell Obama's senate seat. They need to investigate how Patrick Kennedy gets sooo many DUIs and doesn't seem to spend time in jail. How about investigating whether Bill Clinton offered an illegal bribe to Sestak on behalf of Rahm Emmanual. How about investigating Barney Franks ties ot Fannie Mae. How about invetigating Sen Dodd's special loans from Countrywide Mortgage. Or even investigate campaign donations to President Obama from BP and from Goldman Sachs…..The Democrats have a culture of corruption. They have shown themselves to be corrupt. Let's investigate!!!

    Altered States of Consciousness

A person can enter an altered state of consciousness through sensory deprivation or overload, fever, or trama. One can also achieve it by chanting, meditating, or entering a trance state. Researchers that study the aspects of human consciousness have stated that an individua may flicker in and out of states of consciousness several times within a day. There are six states of “nonreflective cousciousness”: body feelings, stored memories, coma, stupor, non-rapid-eye-movement sleep, and rapid-eye-movement sleep. There are also three states of “reflective consciousness”: pragmatic consciousness, lethargic consciousness, and hyperalert consciousness.

And I believe it should be your choice to end your life if you choose so. Suicide is actually illegal in many states, and assisted suicide is considered murder.I am not afflicted with a condition to make me want that possibility, but I have had to deal with a similar choice. As a disclaimer, I am very spiritual, and that seems to be frowned upon here on HN (and other tech sites). Not to mince words, I am a practising witch.

I upvoted you, but outside of what is morally right, I disagree. This boils down to whether you think revenge is worth it or not. Is revenge immoral? Proabably. Does that mean you should never do it? Debatable. If the dad is willing to accept the consequences of killing this guy (consequences = getting the 1st degree murder conviction and prison sentence that the original perp plea-dealt his way out of) then he’s going to do it. He could also just kill himself after he does it and avoid the irony. I have no idea what it feels like to lose a child in such a monstrous way so I can’t say what he should do. I know that sitting over here, his costs appear to outweigh the benefits, but he may not see it that way.

I've got this question immediately after writing this article. I think the distinction is merely a technical/jargon issue. Those who want to give individual consciousness more weightage and distinct identity made it seperate from self. Individual consciousness differs from self in not being a hurdle to realize the Truth. If you include individual consciousness in self, then self represents that also. But individual consciousness is controlled by self to a large extent. What to focus on is decided many times because of self.

so true, one of the biggest challenges in Krishna Consciousness when one is in school/ college is 'the friends circle' while a lot of them are really nice people, they aren't really connected to Krishna Consciousness and somehow… as u mentioned its either the foolish desire to connect with them or fear of losing them that we lower our consciousness and talks.

This should be a great opportunity for the local “peace and justice” community to try to get nonviolence literature to Lybians. Nonviolence in combination with general propagation of Internet access seems to me to be the best hope for the region. Whether that community would even dust off their Gene Sharp volumes or really care about nonviolence is quite another matter…

I would quibble with one point: evolution does 'want'. Evolution wants to enable reproduction, which requires survival. So all of evolution's outcomes are driven by this urge to survive.Reproduction requires survival. Survival is the reward for successful mutations (death the punishment for less successful genes). Mutations therefore drive evolution. My point – evolution isn't some blind or random occurrence (unlike individual mutations, which random). Evolution's guidemap is survival, so survival is what evolution wants.

I didn't state that the US had any obligation to cooperate, of course they don't. But the government has an obligation and one that goes beyond simple politics. Freedom from government intervention into our private lives is a right that exists independent of our ability to move public opinion to our side and it is a right that exists between elections.

Please read my new blog. I would love to hear what you think. I have never seen the movie, only read the book! It is my opinion that just like the laws of cleanliness in the Old Testament work, whether you believe in them, whether you are Hebrew; the Law of Attraction, the Law of Reciprocity in the New Testament work whether you believe in them or if you are a Christian or not. I maybe wrong, but this is my belief.

Take a look at why the Tenaha & Timpson Sheriff Dept won't investigate a case of one of their own with 20 starving horses and dogs on his family's property!! Ginger Sweeny and Scott Sweeny. Dead animals laying around the place. The Sheriff Dept officers have been there to investigate and done NOTHING.

While CNN is out here, take a look at the real depth of the corruption of law enforcement here, it's bone deep! Call the Dallas SPCA – they are getting the complaints reported now for this case too, begging for help for these animals. These are felony animal cruelty & neglect cases if the law will actually investigate and do something.

We're half way through this on Australian TV. I agree with your review – there are points at which the script lacks finesse, but the casting is very good. The two leads are terrific. Macfadyen portrays the husband extremely well – the OCD, the controlling, creepy behaviour.
I thought Criminal Justice I left us not knowing quite whether 'he dunnit', and I wonder if this will be the same – not whether she dunnit or not, but whether the husband's behaviour was as bad as it seemed.
In all, a great piece of work.
